Description
This US TV show has become both a total sensation since airing first airing in 2009. With a unique mix of twisted humour, a cast of diverse characters, a fantastic genre defying soundtrack and bursting with show-stopping musical numbers with a plot that defies any usual rules, "Glee" is a delight. The songs covered in the show are eclectic, with the cast performing songs by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Kanye West, Rhianna, Queen, Salt'n'Pepa, Heart and even tracks from "Cabaret" and "Wicked".
Review
The Glee soundtrack from season 1 is an unadulterated celebration of pop music at its very best. I find myself being impressed with the quality of singing on every single track.
Some may say that this is an updated version of Fame, but I'm not so sure of that - Glee has a niche all of its own that not even the High School Musical films can touch.
This cd captures the very essence of what Glee is about and it makes me smile and say - wow! They are just so good. I cannot pick out any single track and say this is the best because that would be untrue. I find listening to songs from Somebody to Love to Don't Stop Believing and all inbetween incredibly uplifting. There is certainly a joi de vivre about the whole album that I very much like.
Do I recommend this cd - absolutely!
